6 Clips by BeAtS & High 5

YO, you know what it is Beats and High5,
Beats and High 5, Beats and High 5.
High 5 and I are gonna tell you
the top 6 movies of July 2011.
1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows: Part 2-  Millions of people around the world are making a big fuss about Harry Potter and I am really anxious to watch this movie.
2.Captain America: The First Avenger-  This movie looks amazing!!!! The story and the characters are amazing, but you can't judge a movie by its title or synopsis.
3. Monte Carlo-  This movie is also over-hyped  and of course EVERYBODY who is a Selena Gomez Lover is going to watch this movie.
4. Cowboys and Aliens- This movie is interesting because it takes place in the 1800's in Arizona with the Native Americans and Cowboys. This movie probably has a lot of history involved (which is kinda boring) but it should be really good
5. Crazy Stupid Love- This movie looks really funny because it has three very good actors/actress who are:
1) Steve Carell
2)Emma Stone
3)Kevin Bacon
6.Horrible Bosses- Horrible Bosses is a wild-packed movie but looks very bad. Bad not in a meaning of horrible but bad bad. IF it didn't have anything really really bad in it, I would watch it. I would watch it because people are saying that this movie is really really really funny.

TWISTED HERO: George Crum from 1853

My hero is George Crum.  He is the guy who invented potato chips on August 24th 1853.  I know, its not really a healthy thing but like Pinch I am a big fan of potatoes and there is nothing like sitting back and opening a bag of your favorite potato chips or making some homemade batch of fresh ones.
BIRTH OF POTATO CHIPS: Potato Chips date back to 1853. In the summer of 1853, Native American George Crum was employed as a chef at an elegant resort in Saratoga Springs, New York. One dinner guest found Crum's French fries too thick for his liking and rejected the order. Crum decided to rile the guest by producing fries too thin and crisp to skewer with a fork. The plan backfired. The guest was ecstatic over the browned, paper-thin potatoes, and other diners began requesting Crum's potato chips".

It wasn’t until the early 20th century that potato chips expanded from restaurant food and started selling in bags.

TWISTED TIMELINE:
1853 George Crum invents the Saratoga Chip, a thin French fry, now known as the potato chip
1860 Crum opened his own restaurant, featuring potato chips in a basket placed on every table..
1895 William Tappendon of Cleveland, Ohio begins selling potato chips as a food in grocery stores
1921 Wise Delicatessen Company, Berwick, Pennsylvania
1921 Utz - Hanover, Pennsylvania. started as the Hanover Home Brand Potato Chips
1932 Lay's - founded by Herman Lay of Nashville, Tennessee

TWISTED FACTS:
1.  Americans today consume more potato chips than any other people in the world.
2.  As a world food, potatoes are second in human consumption only to rice.
3.  The potato chip did not leave the United States as a food item until 1921 when they were introduced in England.  Since the words chips was already in use for what we in this country call french fries, the word crisps was used.
4.  The potato used for making chips is not the same brand of potato you get at the super market. Special varieties are grown specifically for chips. They are called “chipping” potatoes and have to be specially ordered.
5.  Potato chips sales are over $16.5B (2005) a year worldwide. They tally up about one third of all savory snacks.
So, Let plan a giant Potato Chip party on Wednesday August 24th 2011 and celebrate the most popular snack in the world.

A LITTLE ADVICE: Are You Bored?

Hellloooooooooo People! Now that my finals are finally done (secretly doing a happy dance), I am bored to death! All throughout the school year I have been busy working and studying till my brain falls out! Now that school is over for this year, I don't know what to do! I kept thinking and thinking about how to keep myself busy. So I came up with this list (with the help of the beautiful technology we call the internet). CAUTION: If you do not have a sense of humor, don't read this! You will actually think I'm weird!
Okay without further a do, here it goes!
1. Go around the neighborhood or city and blabber things to yourself. You will get weird looks, but hey you probably won't see those people again.
2. Wear a shirt that says life. Then go hand out lemons on a street corner.
3. Change iPod name to "Titanic." Download new songs. Be amused by the fact that the Titanic is syncing.
4. Build a time machine. Kill people who invented math
5. Eat several boxes of cereal. Tell people I'm a cereal killer.
6. Find a burger that actually looks like the one in the commercial.
7. Smack kid in the face with bottle of Johnson's No More Tears shampoo. Sue Johnson & Johnson for false advertising.
8. Buy a turtle. Name it "The Speed of Light." Tell everyone that I can run faster than "The Speed of Light."
9. Buy pet. Name it Peeve.
10.Walk to fridge. Return to seat disappointed. Repeat.
11. Prepare an ice cream sundae. Watch The Biggest Loser.
12. Eat way too much food. Don't exercise. Blame genetics for making me fat.
13. Explain to kids that obesity is cool. Show them by actually getting fat, renting a wheelchair, and go to Disney World. You cut the whole line and get to the front!
So, these were just some of the things to do when you are bored just like me!

ADVENTURE: Twisted Teeth sends their Astronaut to Space

So recently I have been fascinated by Space.  Have been researching and reading alot about the 1973 Skulab and the move to International Space Station.
Skylab was an American space station with a manned workshop, solar observatory, and other systems that orbited the Earth from 1973 to 1979. It was launched, initially unmanned, by a modified Saturn V rocket, and weighed about 77 metric tonnes in orbit by itself.

Read about Skylab on Wikipedia
On  a recent trip to Orlando, I walked into the NASA gift shop and bought a coin that contains metal from that was flown to the moon.  The coin is to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Apollo.

I know enough writing about stuff.
Here is the actual footage of TwistedTeeth Astronaut's launch into space.

A LITTLE ADVICE: Procrastination

Hello happy people! I hope this beautiful weekend has kept you outdoors instead of indoors! Anyway, I am here again to talk about...PROCRASTINATION. Yes I know, this word is dear to many students/worker's hearts. For those who don't know what it is, it is when you delay your work till the last minute (kinda what I'm doing right now).
The cause of this would be....LAZINESS.Sometimes you just don't feel like doing a certain thing. You're like ehhh.. I'll do it later, it's due in 2 weeks anyway. When 2 weeks pass by, you're like holy Samosas! It's due tomorrow and I didn't start!! That was me today. The down side of procrastination would be that you are doing work with no breaks the whole 1 or 2 days.
But, there's an upside. In the middle of your procrastination, you have so much free time! You could do anything you want! You could go to the beach with a chapli kabab burger aka sandal kabab or just be a couch potato and watch a list of movies you've been wanting to watch. So, procrastination is a choice, people!! I would chose wisely and be conscious of how much time you would have to complete that task!

REVIEWS: Super Soaker Tornado Strike 2011

After a good super soaker fight this past weekend, I went on Amazon to see what new models are coming for 2011.  Big announcement for Super Soaker fans, the water guns are now being made by Nerf.  I started playing with Super Soakers back in 1990 when my grand mother bought me one of the original "injection" style Super Soakers by Larami.  I still have that "water-gun"  The company was then sold and they created a number of so so water guns.  Now Nerf is really spending a lot of time to improve the line and I LOVED what I saw.
I purchased Nerf's Super Soaker Tornado Strike. The water-gun has everything.  I love the style, feel, colors and the concept.  Its based on a assault type water gun but with a Gatling style shooting chamber which creates this spiraling effect.  I also love the Clip system. No more filling your water gun.  Just buy extra clips and change when you are out. I bought 2 extra clips which gives me 30 - 35 shots before refilling.  It also comes with a stock which is great for aiming at your opponents by resting stock on your sholder.  Being a long time fan of the original super soakers like CPS 2100, Monster XL or even the Arctic Blast, I wasn't a big fan of pump handle. BUT I think pump handles are better than original pressurized chamber.  You don't have to run around the yard finding a minute to re-load your pressure before shooting.  With Tornado you can just pump and hit your targets.  When you are out, quickly change your clip and you are good to go for round 2.  Each clip shoots 10-11 full blasts and about 18-20 feet long.  My test showed about 10-15 feet which is fine cause I normally run up close to my opponents for more impact :)
(Twisted Teeth can't afford models, which is why we had to remove his face)
Twisted recommendation:  BUY BUY BUY.
Where: Target.com is selling these for $13, Extra clips cost 5ea.  I bought mine from Amazon.com Buy Tornado Strike on Amazon
Why: $13 is cheaper than movie/popcorn at the theater. This promises hours of fun.  All you need is some folks with less powerful water-guns, a sunny hot day and someone who is willing to foot the water bill and you are good to go.
On a serious note, this is a great addition to any water gun collection and one that will most certainly gain value over time.  Just the design and concept alone are worth the $ and added functionality, ease of use and potential impact will add superiority to any game play.

A LITTLE ADVICE: Gardening!

Hello earthlings once again! Don't worry, I'm not here to talk about food! I am here to talk about gardening. I'm so excited to write this post cuz I gardened TODAY with my aunt and uncle! I wanna give a shout out to them! They are truly amazing in every way! Anyway, it was my first time gardening and it felt great! There are so many reasons why I started to like gardening just after one day.
1. You are outdoors in the cool breeze! It refreshes you!
2. You see all types of animals and different critters and you would become amazed at the fact that there are so many different types of them!
3. It is sooooo peaceful!! After gardening, I felt like just lying down in the grass and just inhaling the fresh air! It's so serene and quiet.. Something we need more often!
4. Gardening is fun! I actually enjoyed pulling out the weeds and putting in the seeds and watering them afterwards!
So as you can see, my gardening interests have escalated, but not yet to the level of my FOOD interests! Try out gardening! You never know, you might get addicted to the outdoors! Gardening comes in handy if you are usually stressed out over work/school. I was stressed out because my finals are coming up..(and kinda didn't start studying yet)!! Anyway, you should totally start gardening!

A LITTLE ADVICE: Its never too late to Workout

So as I am reading Pinch's post on Samosa's I thought about eating some and then I thought about gaining weight and then I thought about buying 1 size bigger clothing and then I thought about feeling FAT! and depressed.  That post made me realize that I haven't been to gym since Saturday, 4 days ago.  Its tough for most folks to plan a workout after work especially if they come home first and have dinner/watch TV etc.  Its 12:32am in NYC and I think its never too late to do a quick workout.
So I am changing and heading to my 24hr gym across the street and do a quick workout.  Plus my gym has a really cool Exertainment Cardio Training Center - Yup they combined Exercise and Entertainment.
Its hard to push yourself to workout any day let alone at midnight during workdays but I believe its never too late to workout.  All you need is to think how you would feel and look after a good workout.
Like Nike said in the 90's
"Just Do It".

FOOD for THOUGHT: Samosas

Hello everyone! It's me, Pinch again! I hope you guys liked my posts so far! I am continuing my series Food for Thought. So in this blog,I will be talking about Samosas. For those who don't know what Samosas are, they are a South Asian appetizer. They are fried fat tortilla-like things filled with cut potatos and spices. They could be eaten with a special sauce called chutney but I like mines plain (in my opinion)! Anyway, there are different types of Samosas. There is a jalapeƱo samosa, a chicken samosa, or the original, potato Samosas and many more. People always ask me, Pinch, why do you love Samosas so much? I say to them, because it has potatoes!
Clearly my obsession for potatoes is too much for some people to handle *cough cough. Anyway, Samosas in the United States are getting popular each day (I think). So go to your local South Asian supermarket or restaurant and order some juicy Samosas! You will fall in love with it at your first bite! ENJOY! :)
